Former editor of Restaurant Startup & Growth magazine for two decades, Barry Shuster is now responsible for RestaurantOwner.com Insights, our members only digital bimonthly restaurant management publication.

Barry began his journalism career covering the Salinas Valley agricultural and food industry after graduating UC-Davis with a degree in English-Writing. He went on to earn an MBA (Pepperdine University) and J.D. (North Carolina Central University), and is admitted to appear before all North Carolina state and U.S. district courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Barry is past interim chair and associate professor of hospitality finance and hospitality law in the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Administration at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Business, where he is currently clinical professor of business law and ethics and RJR Nabisco Endowed Distinguished Fellow.

Barry has earned the AHLEI Certified Hospitality Educator designation, is a trustee of the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association Hospitality Education Foundation, and volunteers as a ProStart judge. He is a co-editor and contributor to the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association Guide to Hospitality Law and co-editor of the National Restaurant Association’s Uniform System of Accounts, Eighth Edition.
