A/C Technician to Restaurateur: An Unlikely and Inspiring Story of Restaurant Success
While all new restaurant ventures are risky, they may be the most unlikely restaurant success stories that we've ever featured. Frank Mendoza, before deciding to go into the restaurant business, was an air conditioning technician, with literally zero, none, no prior restaurant experience.
But after starting out with a simple food cart on the streets of Los Angeles (literally) he got a break and was able to open his first restaurant in 2011 it became wildly successful. It was so successful that Frank was able to open a second location in 2014. Today Frank is now the owner of two highly popular, high volume and financially thriving El Sushi Restaurants in East LA.

So, how in the world does a young air conditioning technician who's never even worked in a restaurant or owned a business of any kind become a restaurant success story? As you'll see, it's not easy and we don't recommend jumping into the restaurant business without any experience. But this success story shows how a combination unbridled passion, resourcefulness, hard work, and probably a bit of good fortune helped make Frank's dream of owning a restaurant not just a reality but a smashing success.
Enjoy Frank's incredible story!
