John Nessel

John Nessel has been actively involved in the restaurant business since his first dishwashing job on Cape Cod in the summer of 1968. Thankfully he was able to move his career along from the dish-station, eventually creating, owning and operating a variety of independent New England restaurants ranging from bagel cafes to fine dining establishments.

At the ripe old age of 50 he decided (in the words of former diet guru Susan Pouter) to "stop the insanity". He created the Restaurant Resource Group a Boston based consultancy providing financial management tools and support services to independent restaurant operators. Simply stated, he now helps restaurant owners to take charge of the business end of the their restaurant. From easy to use computerized accounting systems to simple spreadsheets tracking daily/weekly sales, labor and purchases, John's focus is to help owners to take charge of the "numbers" side of their restaurant, and to use the information to make proactive daily management decisions.

John is the author of "The Restaurant Operators Complete Guide to QuickBooks", the definitive industry guide to the accounting software application used by most independent restaurants today. John is also a partner of Restaurant Solutions, a national consulting firm specializing in "turn-key" restaurant development and advisory services.

John can re reached at john@rrgconsulting.com, and his book and operations spreadsheets are available at his website www.rrgconsulting.com.
