Amelia Levin
Amelia Levin is an award-winning, Chicago-based freelance writer, editor,
media consultant and certified chef focusing on food, restaurants, chefs and is
a senior contributor for
Restaurant Startup and Growth magazine.
Her work has appeared on the local and national level, including the Chicago
Tribune, Metromix.com, Edible Chicago, Chicago Life magazine (part of the Sunday
New York Times), Citysearch.com, julib.com (Modern Luxury), and Health magazine
as well as a variety of restaurant industry trade magazines She has also served
as a judge for various cooking and food writing competitions, and teaches
cooking classes for the City of Chicago.
Amelia earned her certification as a professional chef from Kendall College
in Chicago, where she went through hands-on training in classic French cuisine,
including baking and cooking methods.
She started her career in journalism as a local news reporter for the Chicago
Tribune and formerly served as the senior editor for the now-closed, food and
hospitality group of magazines published by Reed Business Information
Amelia is an active member of the International Association of Culinary
Professionals (IACP) and serves on the board of directors for the International
Food Editorial Council (IFEC). She has participated as both a panelist speaker
and moderator for a variety of food industry-related conferences, covering such
topics as writing for trade magazines, social media networking, innovative
kitchen equipment, and others.
