Feature: Labor Summary Tracking
We created the Prime Cost Wizard to be simple and easy, therefore we saw no reason to recreate the wheel when it comes to tracking labor cost - something your POS or time-clock system most likely does a good job of.
Daily or Weekly Data Entry
Aside from sales and purchase information, the only thing we need to complete the weekly prime cost report is for you to enter your daily or weekly labor cost for each department you are tracking. Typically, your POS or time-clock provides you with daily or weekly labor cost reports. Although the Prime Cost Wizard only requires is a single labor cost total, it can be setup to track as many detailed job departments as you need.
It only takes about 3 minutes a week to run a weekly labor cost report from your POS or time-clock system and then enter the totals (and optionally the hours) to the Prime Cost Wizard. PCW automatically allocates the daily cost where needed during reporting. Optionally, you can enter your labor cost daily to give you more detailed labor performance reports.
In Depth Labor Analysis
The Prime Cost Wizard uses the labor cost summaries within the prime cost reporting - but we don't stop there. Savvy chain operators learned long ago that the way to control labor was to look at Labor Productivity. Simply stated, labor productivity is measured by computing the number of labor hours and cost and comparing them to sales dollars and customer counts.
For every restaurant there is an "optimum" sales per labor hour for each job position. Likewise, knowing the optimum customers per labor hour for each position is beneficial when creating budgets and scheduling your staff. The Prime Cost Wizard uses labor summaries to compare against historical sales and guest count trends to help you in finding your optimum labor productivity levels.
